Adventure in Summer 2013 August 28 2013, 0 Comments

Summer of 2013 has been a great one filled with adventure and laughter. We have had very little rest but I'm alright with that because it means we've been busy doing things and making memories.

This summer I traveled to several antique stores with my fiance, rediscovered my love for vintage and gave him a bit of the bug! It became apparent to us that one of my biggest passions is "picking" and reselling vintage/antiques, which happened while dumpster diving at my grandparent's estate auction....yes, I got into a dumpster and pulled out family treasures and pieces that I found value in where no one else could. I have always loved vintage and it's always something I go back too, but I've decided to not let it go again and to stick with it because it's always with me. I am now in need of a storage shed and a good chlorine bath. LOL I can't help myself when it comes to these old, rusty and beautiful pieces and I can't wait to share them with you!

One of my goals this summer was too take time off from working on online sales to regroup and enjoy my family. I did, however, do several outdoor shows that proved to be great successes and helped me stay on track. My favorite show was the Wine Meets Art Festival in Stillwater, MN. It's a two day show with wine, music, great food and a to die for location. My last outdoor show will be September 21 at the Artist Market here in Eau Claire, WI, come see me if you can!

Our summer included a trip to Hayward to visit the family cabin and enjoy the outdoors, which always helps to ground me. We canoed, paddle boated and helped the little ones fish with cane poles (I did most of the fish grabbing and worm hooking). We also went into town to visit a fabulous candy shop and I managed to get some time to stop into my favorite bead shop in town, where I snagged beautiful stones and boars tusks!

In July, I was commissioned to make 150 business card wallets for the BlogHer convention in Chicago! It was a daunting but very rewarding order, as it's always a pleasure to work with Shannon from Sweet Stellas! During the convention the guests were able to use my business card wallets as canvases to create beautiful artwork on. I got to see a few of them via Twitter & Instagram and Shannon painted a few of them to giveaway on her blog so make sure you check that out!

The last big adventure of the summer was attending the National American Miss pageant in the Wisconsin Dells for our oldest daughter Maddie. She decided to do the pageant earlier this summer and with the little time we had to prepare she did an amazing job! I was apprehensive at first because I'm not the pageant type (no honey boo boo love here) and I worry about the girls involved. NAM, however, did not appear to be that type of pageant and I was pleasantly surprised at how real most of the girls were. Maddie is excited to try again next year and I can't wait to see where this takes her.

Overall, my summer was wonderful and taking some time off was just what I needed. Now, however, it's time to get back to work and focus on getting pieces ready for the Holiday season. My Etsy shop is back online and I'll be adding new pieces as I can for you to enjoy. If you saw my work at a show this summer and it's not online just email me about it, I'll be happy to get it to you!

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me along the way during my break and since the creation of bailybelle in 2009. I appreciate each and every one of you!!
